Family Shelter and Homelessness Navigation

MSC offers family shelter through Coordinated Entry for All and also provides assistance through the Youth and Family Homelessness Prevention Initiative Program.
Eligibility
- Families include single-parent or two-parent families with at least one child under 18 years of age
- Families must be homeless (per HUD definition for category 1/literally homeless or 4/fleeing or attempting to flee domestic violence)
- Family income must be less than 30% of AMI (area median income)
- Family must be committed to working with a case manager
- No charges of meth manufacturing, arson, sex offenses, or repeated assaults
- Family must have no other housing options
To be considered literally homeless in King County, you must be:
- Living and sleeping outside, sleeping in a place not meant for human habitation, or staying in emergency shelter
- Fleeing/attempting to flee domestic violence in King County
- Exiting an institution where you resided for up to 90 days and were in shelter or a place not meant for human habitation immediately prior to entering that institution
- Young single adults imminently at risk of homelessness within 14 days are also eligible for CEA.
How to get help
Youth and families seeking housing support should visit MSC during RAP (Regional Access Point) walk in hours listed below or by calling the RAP Live Line. Appointments will include Coordinated Entry Intakes and resource navigation. We are not able to offer same day housing placements.
To access emergency family shelter in King County, please call the family emergency shelter access line every day you are in need of emergency shelter, starting at 9am. You will be contacted by family emergency shelter providers throughout King County in the afternoon/evening if a shelter bed is available.
What to expect
Families stay temporarily while working with a case manager to set goals for finding stable housing.
