Portable AC Unit Application

In order to be eligible to receive a portable AC unit through MSC you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must have received LIHEAP assistance after October 1, 2023.
  • You have not received a portable AC unit previously through MSC or other LIHEAP assistance program at any organization.
  • You must live within MSC’s energy assistance service area in South King County (see eligibility requirements for energy assistance).
  • You must agree that the AC unit is for personal household use only.

Only one AC unit will be provided per household, and additional AC units will not be available to the same household in the future. AC units will be delivered directly to homes following application from a third party vendor. MSC is coordinating the purchase of the portable AC unit only. MSC is not responsible or liable for any delivery issues, installation, damages, injuries, or defects related to the AC unit. If any of these or other issues arise related to the AC unit, they will solely be the customer’s responsibility to resolve and MSC will not provide additional assistance.

MSC has limited funds available to provide existing energy assistance customers with portable AC units and a limited number of applications will be available. If the application is not available below, that means we have reached capacity for the day. Please do not call or email for an application. Applications are only available online. To complete the application you will need to provide either your social security number or the account number for the utility company where LIHEAP assistance was received. If your online application was completed successfully, you will receive a confirmation email to the email address you provided in the application. Successful completion of the online application does not guarantee that you will receive a portable AC unit.

If you are eligible for a unit, MSC staff will be in contact with you to let you know that we are processing your application and when to expect your AC unit to arrive. If you have not heard from our staff within two weeks after applying, you may contact [email protected] or leave a message at (253) 252-7576 for an update on the status of your application. If you are not eligible to receive a unit, our staff will make every effort to contact you. However, due to high demand, we may not be able to contact you.
