Land Acknowledgement
Multi-Service Center’s work in South King County is throughout the native and ancestral homelands of the Puyallup, Muckleshoot, and Duwamish Tribes, and the Coastal Salish peoples.
It is our responsibility to not only acknowledge the history of these lands and its people but challenge the system that stole their land and continues to oppress Indigenous peoples. We recognize that this land acknowledgement is one small step toward true allyship and we commit to uplifting the voices, experiences, and histories of the Indigenous people of this land and beyond.
We seek to elevate tribal sovereignty, indigenous knowledge, and the people who have resided here for time immemorial in our programs, partnerships, and in community. We also seek to build authentic partnerships with Indigenous communities to reduce the harm that we cause, help undo the erasure of Indigenous histories, and celebrate our local Indigenous communities. We encourage our partners, donors, and other stakeholders to join us in this work.
