Requests for Proposals

MSC is currently seeking requests for proposals for the following projects:

Questions received related to the above RFP and their answers are listed below.

Question: You state WA State Prevailing wages. You also state Davis Bacon and HUD certified wages. Please indicate which wage rate applies as they are dramatically different.

Answer: Please use WA state prevailing wage rates for the entire project

Question: The rail replacement is indicated as “cast iron” . That appears to be incorrect. Typical rails are either fiberglass, powder coated aluminum or galvanized steel. Please indicate the material and color f required.

Answer: Please provide a bid for galvanized steel. We can always discuss cost-saving measures if needed later.

Question: Steel doors are called out. In our experience, we always use fiberglass doors on Affordable Housing projects as they do not dent like steel doors and are a superior door in avoiding tenant damage, have a better thermal quality……all reducing maintenance issues.

Answer: Please bid for fiberglass doors if that is what you recommend.

Question: Is there a time frame for work? When would the work likely start, as this determines our availability to bid the project.

Answer: We would like to start the project as soon as possible. We hope to award the contract by the end of July.

Question: Seal coating needs weather above 75 degrees to cure in a short (one day) sequence. Seal coating is typically done in July or August. (Reference to question #4).

Answer: We would like to start the project as soon as possible. We hope to award the contract by the end of July.

Question: The RFP references the there will be no electrician or plumber on site. Does the bidder include replacement of all hose bibbs, exterior light fixtures (need to be removed and reinstalled for siding installation by a licensed electrician) any fire alarm devices? Please advise.

Answer: MSC and Allied will not provide an electrician or plumber on site. Please include these costs in your bid.
