MSC and Amanda Santo, COO and leader of our Affordable Housing initiatives, had an incredible success! Redondo Heights affordable housing complex of 344 units of workforce housing with a satellite food bank had its grand opening. Affordable housing is one of the top needs in our community. And, housing that is built alongside the light rail for ease of access and transportation is a perfect example of smart community planning and development.
In order for projects like this to be successful, it takes years of planning and many public and private partnerships. MSC partnered with Shelter Resources, Inc., the Washington State Department of Commerce, Rep. Jamilla Taylor’s office, Amazon, the City of Federal Way, and several others to make this project come to life.
In addition to adding housing units with affordability at the forefront, we’ve also included a satellite food bank that’s designed market style for shopping dignity and relevance for those accessing food services. This space also includes a café, drop-in space for partners, and will include resource navigation services.
All of these projects continue to flourish and run through donor support. We appreciate everyone who has donated and sponsored these initiatives. With the funding landscape shifting away from stable funding, these contributions are needed now more than ever.
Thank you for your continued support of MSC and the work we do in the community.
