Multi-Service Center (MSC) is back on the road again picking up food donations in a new box truck thanks to generous grants from the Employees Community Fund of Boeing and Federal Way Rotary. MSC’s new 2019 Isuzu box truck will pick up 70% of the food donations, representing 58,000 pounds of food each year, that are distributed through MSC’s Federal Way Food Bank.
“It was our privilege to award this grant on behalf of the Employees Community Fund of Boeing. The immediate impact it had in the local community put the contributions of Boeing employees to work quickly serving those in need,” said John Fueger, ECF Chapter Treasurer. Thousands of Boeing employees in the Puget Sound region donate to ECF through their paychecks.
Cindy Ducich, Federal Way Rotary Community Service Committee Chair shared, “The Federal Way Rotary Club is happy to help sustain the ongoing efforts of the Food Bank of the Multi-Service Center through this donation. This fulfills our commitment to serve the Federal Way community about which we care so deeply.”
Ninety percent of the food distributed through the food bank comes from donations. Some are direct donations from community members and community drives; however, the majority are through Food Lifeline, local grocery stores and restaurants, and local distribution centers. A safe, well-functioning truck is vital to getting the food from these locations to the people who need it. The truck also will be used to pick up donations from local pet stores.

It has allowed us to replace our 22-year-old box truck that was starting to break down, with a brand new truck that will last us for many years to come, ensuring that we can provide the needed resources in our community,” stated Robin Corak, Multi-Service Center CEO.
