Layla, a single mother of four children, found herself wanting a fresh start for her family. At the time, they were homeless and Layla was having a difficult time finding employment.
Layla and her children moved into MSC’s family shelter in Kent. While there, Layla was able to work with an MSC staff member on her employment and housing goals.
Layla had two primary goals. She wanted to live in South King County where her children were currently enrolled in school so there would be the least amount of disruption for them. She also wanted to find full-time work that aligned with her kids’ school schedule so she could be as available as possible for her children.
With MSC’s support, Layla found a full-time job that worked well with her children’s school schedule and found permanent housing that she could afford. Layla and her children moved out of the shelter earlier this year and Layla is making new goals for her family’s future!
